Answers:

• ·        Media is a plural form of the word medium; which is Latin means intermediate or mediating.
• ·        Media has two main senses:

a)     Media is a vehicle through which information is transmitted or shared. For example, radio, books, television and newspapers.

b)    Media is a social institution that primary function is to convey information ethically and accurately to everyone in the community and that is a mass media.

• ·       Traditionally, in our Somali society, the evaluation of information is vital and numerous proverbs bears testimony to the premium that Somalis assign to the accuracy and the authenticity of information as eloquently articulated in the proverb “Hubsiino hal baa la siistaa”.
• ·        The basic criteria for evaluating information are:

a)     Accuracy

b)    Author

c)     Currency

d)    Fairness

e)     Relevance
